Trip overview :  

Tibet, is situated on the northern side of the Himalayas, is an autonomous region of China. It’s nicknamed the “Roof of the World” for its towering peaks. It shares Mt. Everest with Nepal. Its capital, Lhasa, is site of hilltop Potala Palace, and Jokhang Temple, Tibet’s spiritual heart, revered for its golden statue of the young Buddha

This tour will lead through the ancient city of Lhasa .The Potala Palace dominates the skyline with its powerful and ancient architecture. The numerous temples and monasteries surrounding the city, such as the Jokhang and Drepung, allow travelers to experience Tibetan Buddhism first hand.

This trip offers the picturesque views, amazing himalayas, deep inside into the tibetan culture, history , buddhism and monasteries.This program covers the entire historical landmarks like Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street, Drepung monastery,  sera monastery,Gyngtse Kumbum monastery and Shigatse Tashi Lunpho monastery ,Tsedang, & Yarlung valley .The last part of our journey is spent in exploring the Yarlung Valley, or valley of the tombs. 

Itinerary:

 

Day 1: Fly to Lhasa

Day 2: Visit Jokhang Temple & Barkhor Street, Sera Monastery

Day 3: Visit Potala Palace and Drepung Monastery

Day 4: Lhasa to Gyangtse visit Gyantse Dzong and Kumbum then continue drive to Shigatse

Day 5: Xigatse sightseeing of Tashilungpo Monastery then drive back to Lhasa

Day 6: Drive to Tsethang visit Samye En-route

Day 7: Visit The Valley of the old civilization, Yarlung Valley Yungbulakang Palace,Tanddruk Monastery, Tibetan kings tombs

Day 8: Fly back to Kathmandu

 

Detailed Itinerary:

 

Day 1 - Arrival in Lhasa

On arrival in Lhasa transfer to your centrally located hotel . Rest  of the day free for acclimatization and explore the surroundings .

DAY 02 - In Lhasa

Today you will visit the most sacred Jokhang Temple and may shop in Barkhor Bazaar , the most crowded market place in cntral tibet . Later you will visit 15th Century Sera Monastery  with golden roof is home ot several hundred monks. Monks debating is very special  to watch . 

DAY 03 - In Lhasa

Today  is the very important day and you will visit Potala Palace , the landmakr of Lhasa . It has been a palace since the fifth or sixth century and was once home to the Dalai Lama. Later  you will visit Drepung Monastery which was at a time world's largest monastery, which once housed over 10,000 monks. 

Day 4 - Lhasa to Gyantse then to Xigatse

Todat you will do the long  but beautiful drive crossing two high passes over 5000m Khambo La and Kharo La  beautiful lake -Yamdrok Tso provide wondrous views of the Himalayan range. Driving is so beautiful that  you will pass through severl tibetan villages . On reaching gyangtse visit Gyantse Dzong and Kumbum. Visit to ancient Dzong fort is rewarding as it offers good view of Gyangtse valley . Your visit to Kumbum  is very interesting as it is surrounded by numerous Tibetan murals and ancient architecture. After the visit in Gyantse we will continue another one and half an hour easy drive to Xigatse, the second largest city in Tibet, overnight stay will be at the best Tibetan Mansarover Hotel.

Day 5 - Xigatse sightseeing then back to Lhasa

Today you will visit the giant Tashilungpo Monastery, local carpet factory, the free market. The day will end with a relaxing drive back to Lhasa.

Day 6 - Drive to Tsethang visit Samye En-route

Today you will go through the Gangpo Ri Mountain on the way to Tsethang cross the widest part of Yarlung Zangpo River and visit the first Monastery in Tibet Samye Monastery. Finally we reach  Tsedang the 3rd Largest city of Tibet.

Day 7 - Visit Yarlung Valley

Today you will visit Yarlung valley the foundation of Tibetan civilization . A view of Yungbulakang Palace and its incredible architectural hanging on a cliff  is very interesting . You will also visit Tibetan kings tombs, the massive burial grounds and unique Tanddruk Monastery, one the oldest monastery in Tibet .

Day 8 – Departure

Transfer to the airport in  time to connect the international flight. Warm Farewell.
