Tibet, is situated on the northern side of the Himalayas, is an autonomous region of China. It’s nicknamed the “Roof of the World” for its towering peaks. It shares Mt. Everest with Nepal. Its capital, Lhasa, is site of hilltop Potala Palace, and Jokhang Temple, Tibet’s spiritual heart, revered for its golden statue of the young Buddha

This tour will lead through the ancient city of Lhasa to the Everest base camp and ultimately to surface route to Kathmandu. The Potala Palace dominates the skyline with its powerful and ancient architecture. The numerous temples and monasteries surrounding the city, such as the Jokhang and Drepung, allow travelers to experience Tibetan Buddhism first hand.
This trip offers the picturesque views, amazing himalayas, deep inside into the tibetan culture, history , buddhism and monasteries . This program covers the entire historical landmarks like Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple , Barkhor Street, Drepung monastery, sera monastery ,Gyngtse Kumbum monastery and Shigatse Tashi Lunpho monastery . Scenery of Yamdrok Tso , Karo Glaciers and views of Mt Everest are some of the highlights .
Brief Itinerary:
Day 1: Fly to Lhasa
Day 2: Visit Jokhang Temple & Barkhor Street, Sera Monastery
Day 3: Visit Potala Palace and Drepung Monastery
Day 4: Lhasa Shigatse via Gyangtse 360 km
Day 5 : Shigatse (3900m) to Everest Base Camp(5200)
Day 6 : EBC (5200m) and return to Shigatse (3900m)
Day 7 : Shigatse (3900m) to Lhasa (3650m)350km
Day 8 : Departure .
Detailed Itinerary
On arrival in Lhasa transfer to your centrally localted hotel .
Today after breakfast visit to Jokhang Temple ,the holiest shrine in all of Tibet Shopping at the hustling and bustling market place of Barkhor street is some thing very interesteing . Today afternoon you will visit 15th Century Sera Monastery with golden roofs .Monastery Sera is home to several hundred monks and the monks debating is one the highlights of the monastery . it is one of the “great three” Gelug monasteries of Tibet.
Today after breakfast you visit the winter palace of Dalai Lama the 7th Century Potala Palace , the landmark of Lhasa .Then after, we visit Drepung Monastery one of the largest monastery which once housed 10,000 monks, Drepung monastery lies hidden in rocky ridges just beyond the city.
In the morning, you will drive from Lhasa to Shigatse enroute Gampala pass (4790 m), with a glimpse of Yamdrok-tso (4400m) lake .The Lake is surrounded by many snow-capped mountains and in the distance you can have spectacular views of Holy Mount Nyenchen Khangsar, (7191m) the highest mountain near Lhasa .
Later, we will pass the Korola Glacier on the roadside and arrive in Gyantse, the third largest city (after Lhasa and Shigatse) of Tibet. You will visit the famous Pelkor Monastery and Gyantse Kumbum and enjoy the views of Gyangtse Fortress.
Later in almost 2 hours you will arrive in Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet. Rest of the day free to explore the surroundings . Overnight at Shigatse .
Morning after breakfast you will visit the Tashilunpo Monastery – the seat of Panchan Lama . Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, founded in 1447 by the 1st Dalai Lama, is a historic and culturally important monastery .
Later you will pass Tsola Pass(4600M), and Gyatsola Pass(5248M). Then we drive along the windy road to Everest Base Camp(5200m). You can get closer to view of the Mt. Everest from base camp.The sunset view over the Mt Everest is incredible . Overnight at Rongbuk monastery guest house.
In the morning, Sunrise views over Mt . Everest and later the Rongbuk Monastery . Then after you will drive back to Shigatse. Overnight in Shigatse.
Today, you will drive back to Lhasa by following Yalong Valley along the Yaluzangbu river , the mother river of Tibet. The drive offers the fantastic views all the way you reach Lhasa.
Morning you will be taken to the airport for your flight to Kathamndu or onward destination .
