Trip overview :  

Tibet, on the lofty Tibetan Plateau on the northern side of the Himalayas, is an autonomous region of China. It’s nicknamed the “Roof of the World” for its towering peaks. It shares Mt. Everest with Nepal. Its capital, Lhasa, is site of hilltop Potala Palace, and Jokhang Temple, Tibet’s spiritual heart, revered for its golden statue of the young Buddha

You will be taken through the ancient city of Lhasa which is filled with unparalleled history, culture,heritage and beauty. The Potala Palace dominates the skyline with its powerful and ancient eastern architecture. A visit to the  ancient monasteries is an experience of a lifetime and incredible opportunity to learn Buddhism.

  

This normal tour includes central Tibet,Northern Tibet and Lhasa sights. For guests who do not have enough time (one week) in Tibet, this is reasonable schedule. If you have one or two more days, we extend to EBC or East Tibet or Samye Monastery-Tsetang, etc.

 

Brief Itinerary:

 

Day 01: Arrival in Lhasa

Day 02: Visit Jokhang Temple Barkhor Street, Sera Monastery

Day 03: Visit Potala Palace, Drepung Monastery

Day 04: Lhasa-Namtso-Lhasa

Day 05: Lhasa to Gyangtse, visit Gyangtse Dzong and Kumbum and then to Xigatse

Day 06: Shigatse visit Tashilungpo Monastery then back to Lhasa

Day 07: Depart Tibet for your next destination

  

 

Detailed Itinerary:

  

Day 01: Arrival in Lhasa by air or trian

Arrival in Lhasa  airport and transfer to  your centrally located hotel in Lhasa . Rest of day explore the surroundings and free for acclimatizaiton

Day 02: In Lhasa

Today we will visit Jokhang Temple ,the most revered shrine in all of Tibet and is constantly bustling with devout worshippers. You can experience shopping  in the most crowded market place in Lhasa . In the afternoon we will visit Sera Monastery, a fifteenth century temple with the golden roof  which is the home to several hundred monks . Monks debating in the monasteries is very interesting here .

Day 03: In Lhasa

Today you will visit great Potala Palace. This palace is Lhasa's cardinal landmark and is a wonder of Eastern architecture. Later  you will visit Drepung Monastery, once the world's largest monastery, housing 10,000 monks. This monastery lies hidden in rocky ridges just beyond the city.  Overnight at the hotel .

Day 04: Lhasa-Namtso-Lhasa

Today  you will visit  the famous Namtso, one of the 4 famous holy lakes in Tibet. Namtso, Tibetan for ‘Heavenly Lake’, is often described as being next to heaven because of its lofty altitude, stunning beauty, pure blue water, and spiritual associations.It is the highest saltwater lake in the world. Snow-capped mountains and open grassland, dotted with yak herds and local nomads, surround the crystal clear water of Lake Nam, making it one of the most beautiful places in Tibet. Over night at the hotel .

Day 05: Lhasa to Gyangtse then to Xigatse

Today you will  cross two high passes over 5000m Khamba La and Kharo La  pass and one beautiful Lake - Yamdrok Tso . They provide beautiful  views of the Himalayan range. You will pass through may beautiful tibetan villages . On reaching Gyantse, you will enjoy tibetan culture and living style and  visit Gyangtse Dzong and Kumbum. Visit  to this Dzong offers great views  of the valley and Kumbum monastery has the excellent displays of Tibetan murals and facinating architecture.  Overnight at the hotel .

Day 06: Shigatse sightseeing then back to Lhasa

Today you will visit the giant Tashilungpo Monastery - Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, founded in 1447 by the 1st Dalai Lama, is a historic and culturally important monastery in Shigatse, local carpet factory, the free market. There are endless amounts of sights, both modern and ancient, to see around this city. The day will end with a relaxing drive back to Lhasa. Overnight at the hotel .

Day 07: Departure

Transfer  to the airporot for your onward journey
